Make pairs or teams of a fixed size. With 12 people and 5 per team, you get two teams of 5 and 2 unassigned people. If there are too few people for one full team, everyone is unassigned.
Create random groups by team size or number of teams. Make pairs, split into groups of five, and see leftover participants in a separate unassigned list.
Only full teams are created. Remaining participants appear in a separate unassigned list.

Team count mode assigns everyone, with group sizes differing by at most one. Both modes randomize participants. Copied results include the unassigned list when there are remaining people.
